Adoption Explained

Adoption Explained

Adoption is a way of providing a permanent family for children who cannot be brought up by their own parents, for whatever reason.

Adoption is a legal process in which parental responsibility is transferred from a child’s birth parents to their adoptive parents. Once an Adoption Order is granted, it cannot be reversed. An adopted child loses all legal ties with their birth parents and becomes a full member of their new adoptive family.

Adoption is a life changing decision which will see a child become part of your family forever. Bringing up any child is mutually rewarding and great fun, as well as being hard work and a big responsibility. This is especially true when you choose to raise a child who was not born to you.

As an adopter you agree to care for a child emotionally, financially and physically, as if they were your own.
